The San Gabriele dell'Addolorata's sanctuary is in Teramo province, and is one of the most known and frequented of the Europe. A recently survey classified this sanctuary one of the fefteen most famous in the world. Two million of pellgrins comes from all over the world every year, and pray on the young student tomb.
The first sanctuary nominated for this saint was in 1908, however its origins are very old, as old as San Francesco d'Assisi, which was discovered in 1215. In 1892 became well known when his remains were esumed and on his tomb started to happen strange events. He was proclaimed saint in 1920. In 1959 Pope John XXIII declaired Saint of Abruzzo. In 1970 another beautiful and big santuary was builded, which it hosts around 576 pelgrins.
